British poet W.H.Auden once noted ,”Thousands have lived without water,not one without water.”Yet we all know water is crucial to life,we trash it anyway.Some 80% of world wastewater is dumped,largely untreated-back into the rivers,lakes and oceans.
The widespread problem of water pollution is jeopardizing our health.Unsafe water kills more people than any other thing.Meanwhile our drinkable water resources are finite: less than 1% of earth’s water is actually safe for drinking.
Sip a glass of clear,cool water and you might think that water pollution is a problem somewhere else,but almost every water source is expected to be contaminated with heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury etc.
Without proper action,the condition will get worse and the global water demand of water will increase three fold in future.
